We finally made it out of the city early this morning, after an unexpectedly long (three week) stay in Medellin.

It was a good service stop at Claudia’s very relaxed Hostal Medellin. The bikes are better for it, I have my new passport, and we are all fired-up for the road ahead.
Here are some photos from today’s ride. Two are from the roadside, up above the clouds, and the last one is the crazy Bolivar statue outside the concrete Cathedral in Manizales. We saw evidence of several landslides along the way (from the recent heavy rains), but these had all been cleared. It was a beautiful, curvy, twisty ride, and it didn’t rain – hurrah!

The area around Manizales is known as Colombia’s coffee country.
