I thought it was tempting fate to mention in our recent trip update email that the bikes were both behaving themselves so well. No sooner had I pressed ‘Send’ than Mark discovered that his battery was dead. Not just flat, but completely dry and dead. Lucky it happened here in Medellin. We nipped out to motorbike alley and quickly located a replacement Yuasa battery.

Now to find out the cause of the problem. He says it’s probably the voltage regulator that has failed, causing it to overcharge. We’re carrying a spare regulator and a multi-meter so Mark is optimistic that he will get to the bottom of it.
